Initiated by Leanne Cole, the #55 Monochrome Madness is hosted by Margaret from From Pyrenees to Pennines.
The Theme for March 11th is “Walls”.
Walls are shelters and they also can be instruments to hide whatever is happening behind the walls. They protect us and they hinder us.
The picture for the #55 Monochrome Madness was taken in the “Crumlin Road Gaol“ in Belfast, Norther Ireland.
Built in 1845, Crumlin Road Gaol witnessed a turbulent period in Irish history. During its 150 years of existence, children from impoverished families, political prisoners and women’s rights activists, among others, were imprisoned there.
The prison was closed in 1996 and is now a museum. I took this photo 10 years after the prison closed.
