At the start of World War I, the machine guns on aircraft were not yet synchronized with the propeller blades, so it happened from time to time that the gunner would shoot up the propeller, forcing the plane to make an emergency landing or causing it to crash. It wasn’t until later in the war that synchronized machine guns were introduced.

Every year, the Fantasy Festival takes place in Aach, in southern Germany. And the „Rotten Raptors,“ a quirky after-apocalyptic troupe, are always there – not only with their crazy costumes, but also with vehicles like this „Interceptor“ from the „Rotten Patrol“ (2024).

The last photo in this series is relatively new. Last weekend, the „Rockabilly Days“ took place in Asperg (Germany). Classic cars, lots of crazy rockabilly and rock ’n‘ roll types, and of course great concerts, like the one by the „Pinstripes“ featuring an amazing harmonica player. (August 2025)
