Looking through my archive, I could see that I wasn’t often on the roof oaf a building and so there are more pictures with subjects on a roof than vies from a roof.
Starting with the Quadriga on the roof of the Brandenburger Tor in Berlin. (2009)
Another symbol on the roof of the main station in Stuttgart / Germany: The Mercedes star (At the moment, the star is dismantled due to construction works of the tower)—(2010)
By the way: Did you know that the three rays of the star represent the different areas where Daimler-Benz products were used: air, water, and land?

And last but not least a picture which is already historical. Taken in 2010 at the main station in Stuttgart, a class 181 from German Rail is on the roof of the Expressguthalle (Espress Freight Hall). This hall was beyond the station rails of the main station and so the trains are somehow on the roof of the hall.
Neither the Expressguthalle exists anymore nor the class 181 is in regular service at Deutsche Bahn. (Some of them are still active at private rail companies).
